Nicknames are given by friends or ourselves, but no one is forcing other people to call them a certain name. Why then, with a Pronoun Legislation a group of people is forcing the population to talk a certain way in the US. When did this conversation start?
LGBT is the group that wanted less discrimination with a legislation that made it so that if it sound clearly told another person their gender orientation. They will have to call them that if not, there are some types of punishment. The Pronoun Legislation is in hope for people to accept themselves and not be scared of discrimination but what’s the counter argument.
The people against this argument are against it since they feel that forcing people to speak a certain way that is against freedom of speech. Even though it seems like hate speech, they don’t want to be forced to call someone the way they want. For example, there was a teacher in Texas who did not want to call a student by their gender orientation since the teacher did not call them that. She felt like it went against her freedom of speech. A college professor felt the same way and felt that it went against the constitution and freedom of speech is there a middle ground.
Both groups want what’s best for people, but in different ways. Both parties want less discrimination of people, but forcing people to talk would cause more backlash, as seen at protests. The LGBT community wants more respect. But instead of forcing people to take a certain way, they should have encouraged people to naturally integrate these words into the English language over time. Why is this conversation so complicated?
People want what’s best for all, but parties clash with differing views in both communities. If the try to find a middle ground, they both can agree on, then there would be less discrimination in the world.
